- King Lear - Bronze sculpture by Barry Johnston

King Lear (Lrg)

1985,  Bronze, 5' x 5' x 2'- 6", Edition 8

This earlier Lear version of Lear whom Shakespeare related so eloquently  portrays the bitter anguish of a father betrayed by children he loved, and while having himself betrayed the one who loved him best. So moved by the subject, symmetry, and success of the large King Lear, the artist created the medium sized version years later, adding lively patinas.
