King Lear (Med.) 2001, Bronze, size 25"x
26"x 13", Edition 20
In his madness, King Lear staggers
through a raging storm, his cape flying wildly in the wind, capturing the
moment when, having rejected his loving daughter Cornelia, he tragically
realizes the consequences of his foolish alliance with his conniving older
daughters.
The artist was so moved by the subject, symmetry
and success of the large Lear that he created this medium sized version
years later, adding lively patinas to the work.
